A series of yttrium-substituted cobalt ferrite nanoparticles was prepared by co-precipitation and examined for the effect of rare-earth substitution on the spinel structure. Phase purity and crystallite size were established by XRD, bonding environment by FTIR, optical band gap by UV-Vis diffuse reflectance, morphology by SEM, and dielectric and electrical transport behaviour by impedance spectroscopy.
